Youth Summer Camp FAQs

We will not be providing snacks or beverages for the children as it is unsafe to eat while working with clay. Please try to eat before arriving for your session. We will be providing lemonade and ice water for parents in the lounge tent. If you decide to bring a water bottle for your child, please bring a water bottle that has a flip open cap so no clay particles can land on the mouthpiece and your child doesn’t have to worry about possibly getting clay or glaze on the top of their container from their hands.
We will be having an ice cream party on July 11th to celebrate the fully fired bowls glazed by each kid.

Every child who participates will get to glaze an “ice cream” bowl made by one of the Soulmates staff. This bowl can be fully personalized with colors and designs, and will last for many years to come. The bowls are dishwasher and microwave safe. Each child will also be provided with a complimentary apron to keep them clean during their sessions and keep to use in the future. Not to mention the super fun memories of creating with clay!

Yes, you’re welcome to stay and lounge under a covered canopy on the lawn while your child is potting in the studio. Beverages will be provided. Since studio space is limited, we’re asking that parents try to avoid being in the studio during the session.

We will not be refunding for time not used. If your child chooses not to participate during any portion of the projects, we will not refund for that session. We hope that everyone can participate on day 3 when the ice cream bowls are glazed, as this is the take-home portion of the event.

This is important for safety! Please take the following into account when dressing for the session:
Tie back long hair so that it cannot drape into the clay or get caught in the wheel and cause injury. Avoid jackets that have long strings or tie/tuck them.
Remove necklaces that can dangle and get caught in the wheel. Remove rings that could be damaged by clay grit or get lost in the clay buckets.
Wear short sleeves if possible.
We recommend wearing long pants that are comfortable for the temperature to keep clay off of their skin, for clean up purposes.
Wear closed-toe shoes! Waterproof shoes are a bonus, as sometimes clay is splattered.
Trim nails short to prevent accidentally gouging the projects and to keep fingernails a bit more clean.
* We are equipped with bandaids and basic first-aid supplies.
Clay dust is not good to breathe! Plan to change your child’s clothes as soon as is convenient for you to prevent the dust from accumulating in your home. Please read further about how we keep everyone safe from the risks of clay in our main FAQ here:

We will not be providing any childcare or supervision for children not registered for the activities. Siblings may stay with parents in the lounge tent. We have a small play structure that may be used at your own risk. Please be aware that our yard does have a creek, and we ask that you keep all children at least 20ft away from it.
